The Nicholson Crusaders went wild in the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Centennial Chargers 21-1 en route to a 56-28 victory in a Bay of Quinte senior boys basketball contest Tuesday night.

Nicks led by 11 at the intermission, 29-18, before passing on their third-quarter run.

Taylor Boers had 20 points for Nicholson, which improved to a perfect 7-and-0 in conference play, while Sean Barbeau chipped in with 13. Bryson Asselstine had eight points for NCC while Carter Maschi netted five. Chargers got seven points from Derek Wendel and 5 from Lucas Fast as they fell to 5- and-3.

In an exciting junior contest, Chase Peck scored with 29 seconds left on the time to raise the Chargers over Nicholson 35-34. Nicks led throughout the competition but Centennial rallied with six straight points in the last two minutes to catch the victory.

Tanner Dafoe (8), Zack Mullins (6) and Peck (6) were top scorers for CSS while Jake Brak had a game-high nine points for the losers. Jimmy Hamilton and Jack Goyer had six apiece.

BOYS HOCKEY

Dylan Murray had a destination and two assists to pass the St. Theresa Titans over the Moira Trojans, 5- 3, in a Bay of Quinte boys hockey contest. Hunter Fargey and David Gaylord each had a goal and an aid for St. T's while Brady Farrell and James Denny also scored. Ryley Kehoe had a helper. Trojan goals came from Troy Coltman, Peter Pope and David Lytle. St. T's goalie Ben Elliott helped the Titans weather a 5-on-3 Trojan power play in the tertiary period, making several saves over 90 seconds, to help STSS improve to 4-and-0 in conference play.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Becky Wright put together a five-point performance (two goals, three assists) as the Moira Trojans ripped the Bayside Red Devils 6-1 in Bay of Quinte girls hockey action. Victoria Chapman and Madison Yearwood had two goals apiece for Moira while netminder Bre Bunnett notched her third win of the season. Trojans improve to 3-1- 1; Devils drop to 1-and-4.

Trenton Tigers beat the East Northumberland Blue Dragons 4-1 on goals by Morgan Houde Pearce (2), Hannah Wilson and Raven Roe.
